An installation project for 24 hours. Three elements as a starting point: Black color, a sound piece and time.
The project's title was 'Blank Mind Black Mind' and it started from this thoughts:
Mind is empty. Fast time. Slow time. Darkness. Faded Images and sounds. A cold Sense. Something like a dream...
The sound piece was made from Lovecraft's book 'The call of Cthullu'. Recorded narrative pieces of the book were altered in different speed and mixed together with some atmospheric sounds. The piece was a 30 minutes loop.
The project focuses on the significance of fiction borrowing elements from Sci-fi literature of H.P.Lovecraft, Kazimir Malevich and the art movement of Suprematism (which focused on geometric forms and particularly in the Square) and underground music Culture.
It deals with questions on the supernatural sense of the sacred and the dark side of the human psyche.
Thoughts on fiction:
The significance of fiction, belongs to an underground culture and contains the force of symbolism and displace.
Symbols and pictures mark the conscience > drifting us in remote worlds
Draws from the vastness of our inner world > functions as psychokatharsis
Deviates us from the triviality of daily life
Makes our dreams and concerns more spectacular
Has the possibility of being adapted in the fears of its era
Commenting on its era
Places social and political reflections
Has multiple interpretations
Can be reported in facts that are real but also in others that never happen before
Notes from text used in the work:
'We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity;
(H.P.Lovecraft, The call of Cthullu)
'Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.'
'In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.'
